I know things are pretty scary rn, and it sucks…but never forget that despite the outcome of this; we all need to look after each other…help one another, and stick up for those who cant do so themselves. Things will maybe change and the world may not be as it was, but we have to remember that despite the bad people and things that happen, there is still good. We still have the power to change things, its important not to forget that.
I’ve done more then a few cons in my day and this year’s Chicago TFCon in particular just stood out to me!
Not just because of the venue or the products, it was the people!
I’ll be honest I have been going through some tough stuff before this con and loosing some steam in this franchise but man… meeting everyone again… just changed my outlook and reminded me why I have been in this fandom for 13 years. You took me back to my roots and that childlike excitment I thought I lost.
Getting to share in the stories, goof off in cosplay, and just spend time with friends new and old realy has revitalized my spirit both in the fandom and in my life as a whole.
And I think I speak for more then just myself when I say this con has inspired so many others too.
Getting to see those faces light up with excitment when everyone introduced themselves at the bar party saturday night, and that other friend cry out “Omg that is you on tumblr?!” To eachother was so great!
To meet people we have spoken to online for years and shared our life with is a fantastic experiance and I encourage every fan to shoot for this same experiance someday in their life.
Don’t be afraid to open up and connect with others at these events. And do your part to include those brave enough to attend on their own for the very first time! You never know who you will meet and the friendships you will strengthen as years go on.
I’ve noticed too how many have said they will reignite their RPs/ storytelling/art here on tumblr!
I think that’s simply awesome!
Breathing new life into the transformer fandom when it needs a boost would be fantastic! I encourage all of you to seek out those new faces you met and continue this tradition!
This fandom is one of quality because of the passion it’s fans express and the creativity both professionally and non professionally it puts forth! You make the Transformers world great!
To me personally this fandom has helped me through tough times and I want to see it nurtured and grow.
You are all a second family to me and I love you guys.
Thank you to the organizers and to attendees for returning that spark and inspiration back to me this TFCon Chicago!
AMEN PREACH IT
Bless this post. Definitely one of the best experiences in my life <333
//i second everything said here and would like to add
that the best experience of my life, the one that made driving 1,000 miles from Florida to Chicago more worth it than anything else, was getting to see the people I have come to love and admire through rping, getting to hug every single one of you, getting to finally tell you in person how wonderful, kind, amazing, and beautiful you all are.
Thank you so much for making the trip worth every mile 🙂
You guys, TFcon was absolutely amazing, from the people I met to the artists and swag. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience, I’ll treasure it forever!
There are more pics to come and I’ll tag who I know when I post them, but I’m tired tonight so have this for a taste of the silly. Goodnight, everyone!
