👁️, 👀

Answered here!

What is the most disturbing thing they’ve ever seen?

…You know, anything that unnaturally jams organic and mechanical messes together. He’s seen it several times now, and it never gets less disturbing. The least disturbing out of that category was Silas-Breakdown, and even that turned his tanks.

🎵👄 🗣

If they were going to torture someone, what music would they play while they did it?

He’s never done this to music, but if he had to pick a song it would be ‘Friday’, very loudly. He’d shut off his own audial receptors and make it a part of the torture.

If your muse had the ‘kiss of death’, would they ever use it?

Not anymore.

When is the last time they yelled at someone in anger?

Barring various monsters? …I think Rigel. That was the most recent time he’s lost his temper at someone specific, unless I’m forgetting something.

👁 🤡

Have they ever been a stalker, or been stalked themselves?

Yes, and yes. Tends to come with the job when you run a rebellious regime.

Do they have any phobias or irrational fears?

Being restrained, successfully. He’s really damn strong, and can break out of most common methods of restraint like stasis cuffs and chains if they’re not specifically classed to higher strength levels. But if he tries to move or get free with all his power and finds he still can’t, then he’ll start to panic.

🔪 🔮 👤 💥 🍷

What do they think is scarier: a killer with a gun, or a killer skilled with a knife?

It depends on the weapon, but generally a gun he considers far more dangerous. If the person has intense accuracy and a high-powered projectile, you may not even know you’re being attacked before it’s too late.

They have a premonition that something terrible will happen to them. How do they handle the situation?

It’s not the first time. Megatron has famously never been one to accept the fate he’s been told to have if he disagrees with it. He’ll fight to his last to prevent it, which in some cases may in fact cause said bad thing, sitcom-style.

If they could switch bodies or lives with any one person, who would it be?

Permanently, or temporarily? Either way, he’d use the switch to his advantage and further his own means. He rather likes his own body and life. Maybe Ratchet.

If the world were ending, would they be satisfied with their life?

There is always more he thinks he can do, always more he thinks needs to be done. Especially if the world is ending! His job now is kind of making sure it doesn’t. Besides that, he’s one of those people who won’t/can’t ever retire and will work until the day he dies.

What would they do if someone slipped them a slow-killing poison?

Find and murder the person who gave it to him while mocking them about not using something more immediate and then look into a cure. Priorities.

😱

When was the last time they were shocked or startled?

It’s gotten to the point where it takes a lot to shock Megatron. He’s been through all manner of otherworldly experiences holy, unholy and surreal, and he’s seen pretty much every kind of gore. That said, this shook him.

This is a close second.

Ur opinion on sparklings? Also do u enjoy beating up starscream?

Sparklings are to be protected and educated until they’ve developed enough to make decisions for themselves. They are a rare thing in our world, and until the Allspark can be recovered, the only way for new life to be created on Cybertron.

Starscream, and the rest of my soldiers for that matter, do not face punishment unless it is deserved. Underlining a failed attempt to undermine or eliminate me? There is a certain enjoyment to that, yes.

An Interview

Optic filters shutter back, flicking red away from blue (a hint of violet there in the inbetween, laced so deep in his very being like the true horror of repetition), and his spark twists.

This is hardly a surprise. The few videos he has of Megatron prior to the War depict the mechanical with the blue optics common to Priman Cybertronians, a match to the shade of energon typically found in those days. But, like many other things about Megatron, the sight is unreasonably aching

His audials flick back at the (immense, but much less intimidating) frame joining him. Nervous energy bunches and bounces around in his EM Field, optics dim as his Energon shifts around and pulls itself in tight around his Spark. A courtesy, perhaps, one meant to match his overbright frame to the plainer one of a unadorned Miner.

He is not afraid (tho’ his optics stray towards that fusion cannon, and the sharpened edges of a mechanical built to survive), but he is… uneased

“I don’t understand.“ he says, in that honest manner of the old Prime and the innocent Archivist. “I cannot possibly begin to understand what you and your fellow Decepticons went through. Not in any true manner, at least; research is helpful, yes, but it adds a comforting distance.“

History is written by those who survive, and those who survive long enough to write it down rarely know of the struggles that fueled the creation of a War.

“But,” he says, with a sigh heavier than need be (something inside aching, feeling regretful). “I have not quite heard this side of the story before, and that does make more sense than the current running theory. And if I have not heard of it, then very, very few have.”

He thinks, briefly, of all the Decepticon ‘drones’ that ‘helped’ construct most of Iacon, and begins to feel vaguely nauseous

“The War started as an attempt to equalize others, and yet it ended as a massive scramble to gather energon and deal with… other such dangers.” Like over-obsessive Gods who somehow managed to get to Cybertron, and the beginning conflict caused by the rising Predaking Empire. “What changed?”

If Megatron had heard his soldiers referred to as drones in such a context, he would take great offense. Their frametype was one that was mass-produced, but each had his own spark, his own personality and thoughts, and each had chosen on his own to serve the Decepticon cause. They deserved more than to be relegated to the same social standing and  menial tasks that would have been asked of them had the war never began.

“In a way, it’s precisely as you described. Two beings so at odds with one another that we tore the world apart. But to simplify it as such would be an injustice to those who gave their lives.” The problem wasn’t that it shouldn’t be put into such terms, but that it was exactly that. It had been an injustice, and too many had paid the price for something far different than they had begun fighting for.

Megatron turned slightly, watching Orion. His optic ridges furrowed a bit for a moment before he continued, as if something were making it difficult.

“When we met with the council, I came to the realization that nothing we said could make a difference. No argument that didn’t somehow benefit the upper castes had any sway, what did our discontent matter so long as they remained safe and in power? I was willing to do anything, to force change if I had to, so I threatened their safety, I threatened their power, their lives, as ours were threatened every day, they heard me then! …And then HE stepped in.” Megatron wrenched his gaze away from the little phantom of his memories. He didn’t want to slip, and refer to this Orion as the one who had betrayed him.

“He tried to placate them, reassuring that a solution could be reached peacefully… the naive fool. Because of him, they knew they had an easy way out. They wouldn’t have to answer for the atrocities committed every day beneath their pedes because here was a mech who thought me too extreme, someone willing to see their side.” He winced, servos tensing into fists. “It disgusted me, infuriated me. We had worked so hard together, only to be undercut by one I considered a Brother, in favor of catering to the elite who had done this to us! And he was the one who received the Matrix-!!”

Sharp, hot pain lanced through his chest. He couldn’t conceal it this time from his field or from his reaction, leaning forward and clamping a servo over his chest. Everything hurt, a strut-deep ache as the self-inflicted poison reacted to his weakness. Too much anger. He opened all of his vents, effectively panting to cool his systems, focusing on the physical instead of the past. The solidity of the bench and the ground at his pedes, the subtle breeze through the crystal garden. Violet pulsed in his optics for a moment before it faded, as he was slowly able to calm himself. His gaze flicked to Orion as he straightened in the seat again. Since when was talking so draining?

“…The war would have happened regardless of our personal conflict… but it colored everything that followed. It changed us. He became a Prime in reaction to my revolution, and I became… ‘Lord Megatron,’ bent on destroying all trace of the old system… including him.”

Hello!! I absolutely LOVE this blog and wanted to thank you SO MUCH for posting the Megatron Origins Issue 2 pics of his pretty head panels/crest thing! Haha…I haven’t gotten to read the Megatron Origin series yet and really want to. Is it explained why he has them? [There was a theory on another blog that thought they were solar panels.] Or are they just a part of how he looks and he wears the helmet over them?

picsofmegatron:

@supernovasoundwave Thank you and you’re welcome!! Unfortunately it isn’t at all explained why he had them. Like, ever really. I’ve always wondered myself. This would be a question to ask the writers of that comic. But here’s my theory.

See the thing is, is that lots of other bots in the first issue of Megatron Origin have helmets exactly like his (as shown below), so I imagine that the other miners were built on an industrial scale to have them as well. It couldn’t have been just Megatron who had them.

(None of the bots shown here are Megatron. The close one in the first panel looks like it but Megs doesn’t have any scars on his face). As you can see in the pic above, all the miners have helmets exactly like Megatron’s and thus probably head crests as well.

But for miners to have solar panels? In the dark? Makes no sense. There is no solar energy down there at all. Wanna know what I think they are?

Yeah, they were like whiskers. Imagine though it sort of makes sense. It’s dark down there and sometimes they’d probably run out of power so they couldn’t see in the dark. The Functionists probably wanted to save money and resources on building them and gave them shitty programming/no night vision.

So instead they built them with head panels. They’d take off their helmets (as stupid and as dangerous as that’d be but really miners were merely tools back then; easily replaceable so not like it mattered if one died) and allow the crests to fan out and the crests would scrape up against the ceiling of the mine shaft they were in or against the walls to let them know where they were in their surroundings.

They probably built the head panels like (and this is another theory I don’t think it was ever confirmed about Seekers) a Seeker’s wings. The head panels were probably sensitive to atmospheric pressures, vibrations from above to let them know if there was going to be a cave-in and they needed to get out of there/if ground was unstable, etc.

It’s seen in one issue of MTMTE where a young Megatron and Impactor go to the bar during the whole time-traveling thing and also in like the first panels of Megatron Origin that miners were indeed allowed to go up to the surface. If the head-panels were sensitive to atmospheric pressure, then it would make sense to want to shield them from this sudden change of pressure from way down deep in the mines to all the way at the surface. It’s sort of like having your ears pop on a jet when you’re ascending.

The helmets protect the sensitive panels from the pressure change by keeping them folded flat and not able to expand and ‘turn on’ (as I imagine that if they were folded flat, they would be ‘off’ to conserve a miner’s energy because it would be useless to run a pressure change/vibration-sensitive program when the helmet was on). So, thus, the helmet kept the panels down and the programming ‘off’.

Now it’s not at all explained why Megatron fanned his crests out after he killed his first dude in the gladiatorial ring but we see by that point of the comic that not a lot of the miners-turned-gladiators had their helmets after issue one so they could have gotten themselves altered to be better fighters. After all, it wouldn’t be good for your enemy to grab the sensitive crests and rip them off/out.

Megatron probably took his helmet off in an expression of grief of what he did (slight spoilers here but nothing too major: when he attacked the senator that fired them all, he was all like “NO WHAT HAVE I DONE” sort of thing super grief stricken so it’d make sense that he’d still, later on in the arena, feel grief or change in himself after he killed his first bot). So that particular moment was probably him expressing himself. Note that he doesn’t smile or anything or is proud of what he did. He looks… done. Tired. Like he just wants to sleep.

With that, it’s not known why Megatron and probably other miners had those head panels but tbh solar panels makes absolutely no sense so I personally think they were more like whiskers.
