… Are you okay, Megs?

ask-smokescreen:

mighty-megatron:

mightymegatron:

He has to look up at the wounded apparition now to see it glaring down at him.

“…Fine. Nothing is there.”

He glanced at the hole. “…He can’t speak. He isn’t there! And believe me, Smokescreen. I would much rather you be plagued by this sight. Better you get to see your mentor again than to have his image seared into my mind.”

“You just said you saw him- And I wish that were the case, too. But- I can still try to talk to him, yeah?”

And he’s going to focus on the empty space, trying to picture Optimus there, “Hey Optimus- I hope you’re doing okay in the allspark- and that it’s more peaceful there. Things could be better here- but I’m sure they’ll get better soon enough! Aw man- I should probably show Megs the progress on the crystal gardens, so you could see it.”

Even if Optimus really isn’t there, the image of Megatron being annoyed by Smokescreen trying to interact with Imaginarimus Prime is too much.

Smokescreen gets what he wishes: an extremely annoyed Megatron. Though, it is more due to the gentle smile Optimus offers his cadet.

“He isn’t real. He doesn’t understand you.” This earns another glare from the Prime and he begins to walk towards Megatron. He glares right back and waits for the incorporeal thing to do what it will.

… Are you okay, Megs?

“…Fine. Nothing is there.”

It was a wise choice to step away. Megatron slashes at the air a few more times before charging his cannon and firing with a violent war cry. His display has no effect on Optimus, who’s now closed his optics in sorrow. Megatron rounds on the cadet instead, optics wild.

“Someone believed it would be amusing to burden me with the sight of your fallen Prime. I’m sure it must amuse you as well!”

Should he bolt? He’s pretty sure he should bolt- but Megatron seems focused on that single area? He kind of just wants to watch…

“Wait, hold up- a ghost Optimus is there?” He’s going to wave towards the area Megatron just finished shooting at- giving a smile, even.

“I just wish I could see him- or even hear him, to be honest.”

He glanced at the hole. “…He can’t speak. He isn’t there! And believe me, Smokescreen. I would much rather you be plagued by this sight. Better you get to see your mentor again than to have his image seared into my mind.”

“NOTHING!!” he bellowed, lashing out with his sword in frustration at the image of Optimus, whose disapproving frown only deepened. “There is no such thing as spirits manifesting from the Allspark! It’s all a trick and I will not have it any longer!!”

Oh Primus- Smokescreen’s backing away the moment he sees Megatron lashing out at nothing- he’d like to stay in one piece!

“Ohhh. You’re seeing spirits? Who is it? Is it Megatronus or something? I’ve heard stories about him doing that before.” Okay. He hasn’t. But he’d rather not go into personal detail about that with Megatron.

I- wasn’t asking about anything there. Is something there? Is this some kinda trick?

/Looking up, trying to find some kind of trick./

“NOTHING!!” he bellowed, lashing out with his sword in frustration at the image of Optimus, whose disapproving frown only deepened. “There is no such thing as spirits manifesting from the Allspark! It’s all a trick and I will not have it any longer!!”

Megs? Hey. Quick question- if, when the war was over, someone other than Optimus had the matrix, would you have offlined Optimus still or gone for the other bot instead?

ask-smokescreen:

mighty-megatron:

mightymegatron:

The only way that someone else would have had the Matrix at the point would be if Optimus had already fallen. I do not see the point of hypotheticals.

The image of Optimus Prime stands just behind Smokescreen.

Megatron stares right back at it, optics resetting several times.

“…That’s impossible,” he says quietly.

Smokescreen’s looking around him- is Megatron staring at him? Frag, that’s weird. He didn’t- he’s pretty sure he didn’t blurt anything out.

… And is he still laughing at the idea of Smokescreen ever being a Prime? Well, that’s just rude.

“Come on, it’s not that ridiculous, is it?”

The image would not leave. It reached towards Smokescreen and set a servo on his pauldron, never removing his gaze from Megatron. The warlord sneered.

“You’re not real,” he growled to the empty space above Smokescreen’s helm before scoffing and looking back down at the cadet. “It’s not ridiculous at all. It’s excruciatingly like something he might do. Might have done.”

That. … Ha. ha. Right. ‘Cause what kind of bot would think I’d be good in that position? Right.

That’s all I really needed to know, Megs. So- you would’ve done the same thing to him, either way?

Right, right-

Well, say he had fallen, and gave the matrix to someone else, the rest of the war happened with similar results- or maybe that he had given it to someone else after the war ended.

Hypothetically, who would you have gone for, Megs

I do not see the point of this discussion, unless you’re curious because Optimus offered to give it to you. Imagine!

Optimus would have been made to answer for his past sins no matter his status as Prime, of that you can be sure. As for the new Prime, that would be dependent on who it had been.
