mighty-megatron:

She stole this relic from you. You should not need to do anything for her to get it back. Tell me where you are meeting her. Airachnid cannot be allowed to possess the phase shifter for long.

::Well- it’s- I mean, I did phase myself into her, she stole it fair and square. And I know I shouldn’t, but sometimes, slag works out wrong- I think I can handle it, Megs. I’m perfectly strong and capable!::

::I’m meeting her on this alternate nemesis, probably- Though it’d probably be better to give her the favor here, just in case… I’ll see how it goes.::

… Fine. But when she turns on you, or refuses to relinquish the device, ping my comm with your coordinates. It would be a suspicious thing for my Autobot liason to be slain under my watch.

ask-smokescreen:

mighty-megatron:

‘Fair’ and ‘deal’ do not exist together as far as Airachnid is concerned.

What are you planning on giving her in return, that she will inevitably steal from you?

::Guess I’m gonna have to teach her, then!::

::Nothing too important- some crystals I harvested, some silk, this other thing… It’s not a big deal, Megs. And I don’t see how she can steal all of this from me! I could steal the phase shifter from her if I need to, anyway.::

What other thing?

ask-smokescreen replied to your post:

Then show it to me.

Do not conceal this from me Smokescreen; Airachnid is an assassin. If she possesses a relic like that it will only make her job easier.

::It’s- that’s- I, uh- lost it in my subspace! yeah! Guess I need to really clean it already…::

::Okay- I lost it, but I’ve got a deal planned, and I think it’s a pretty fair deal, all things considered!::

replied to your post “Do you think that I would waste my time with you, irritating as it may…”

And you will. Lamenting over what you aren’t doing accomplishes nothing. Take action.

I tried to take action- and it didn’t go right at all. I lost something important, and- I fragged up.

You are not the only one who has made poor decisions, or failed at an important task. Dwelling on it, no matter how large it may have been, leads nowhere. We cannot change the past, but the future is something in our control. Nothing will improve if you do not continue to move forward.

The seasoned warrior chuckled. “That weapon is meant to kill. If you can’t at least hurt me with it, then you don’t deserve to wield it!” The next charge doesn’t exactly take him by surprise, but the new aim has Megatron grinning. Immobilization is a much better strategy for larger opponents. The former cadet at least has some sense after all.

But he’s not about to let himself be hit by such a telegraphed attack. A sidestep to the right and he takes advantage of Smokescreen’s forward motion, shoving him further forward with the hilt of his blade. “Again! I should not be able to see where you’re aiming when you’re still charging towards me.”

“Of course I can hurt you with it- I can do that much!” He still doesn’t really want to hurt Megatron, but he wants to prove he deserves to wield a light saber-

The shove has him stumbling some, nodding at Megatron’s words. That’s honestly fair. Once he’s back up, he’s going to lean back some- he doesn’t want to lose his balance like that again.

Once he’s back in a comfortable stance, he’s going to begin to start what seems like the same attack, changing his aim to take a swing at Megatron’s arm towards the last minute. Smokescreen could even call it a smokescreen for his real move!

Young cadets learn quickly. The flaw now is not that that he can see the move coming. In fact, Megatron has to quickly change his stance in order to parry the saber. However, his arm is a poor choice of target, given their current weapons and relative heights. The strike barely misses the mark and connects with his blade instead, leaving a light scorch mark on his armor as they grind and glow together.

“More like that! If you had feigned for my arm to hit my leg, you may have actually hit something. As it stands…” The larger warrior put his full weight behind their locked blades and pushed against the saber, letting Smokescreen feel his strength. “Now you find yourself stuck in a physical grapple with one who is much larger and stronger than you. If you don’t get out of this soon, you’ll be on the ground.”

Better. His shoulder’s been compromised, but he’s fixed his feet. Still leaning too far forward in anticipation of attack, which is good for protecting the spark, but bad for returning a blow. The resulting clash of their swords does knock Megatron’s blade away, but only for a moment. It’s enough for Smokescreen to back away in retreat.

“So warm up, then! If you continue to treat this as a friendly tag-battle then you will find yourself missing a limb before long. Fight me as if your life depends on it- and I shall give you notes afterwards.” Megatron was of course planning on pulling his punches, but if Smokescreen did the same, he would never live up to his potential. Besides that, there were few injuries that his medics could not repair.

His doorwings are perking up when he manages to knock Megatron’s blade away- he thinks that went pretty good! Even if something’s wrong with his shoulders here. Maybe swinging less would be better…

“Fight you as though- Wouldn’t that hurt you, though?” Despite everything, he can’t really get himself to want to hurt Megatron, even if he knows that the other bot can definitely handle what he gives. He’s too short to accurately reach any vital components of Megatron, anyway.

But he figures in a real fight with Megatron, trying to aim to kill Megatron would probably not be as effective as trying to immobilize him. Smokescreen’s going to take a couple steps back, getting his saber ready so he can try to give a running stab directed at Megatron’s leg.
