Max’s teeth are a bit more sharply defined than is normal. It is a commonly debated topic in the workplace as to whether or not he was born that way, he files them himself, or that he sold his soul to become such a success and looks more animal-like as a result. If such conversations reach the secretary’s ears, those involved might mysteriously find their schedules shifted. Max himself is unaware of this entire affair.

Goo faddernoon- ACK. I mean “good afternoon” s-sir. (crap now he’s going to think I’m an idiot).
…
Yes, yes. Good afternoon… Banik.
*It takes a moment to recognize him, but he does. A hard worker under pressure. He needed more of them.*
Of-of course I did, sir. Workers there can vouch for me. Forgive me for forgetting to include my signature, I’ll just fix that right now.
He hands the paper back to the shrill man, looming over him as he signs. “That will be all for now. Get back to work and double check everything you report to me.” Lowell returns to his desk without so much as a second glance.
*knocks on the door to the CEO’s office* Mr. Lowell, sir, I have the assessment ready now.
“Then let me see it.” His patience was always short with Schreier, even more so when he’d been kept waiting. Snatching the forms from his hands, he checks it over without letting the stick of a man leave.
“Your signature is missing here. I will not let my shipment go through without your inspection. You did actually perform the assessment yourself, didn’t you?” His glare might as well have been the armor-piercing rounds that were a part of the order.
AU M!A: From the 18th to the 25th, you are a human on the present day Earth. Same personality, different history. You have always been human and have no memory of being Cybertronian. There is no Cybertron, no Transformers, no sparks, no war.
Max buttons his shirt sleeves and fixes his signature violet tie in relative silence. He turns the tie pin in his fingers before the mirror, a little shield made from melted down bullet casings. Everyone assumed that it was a memento of the man who took him in- how could they know that it was really a trophy? Smirking at himself in the mirror, the pin gets attached in its rightful place.
He’s two minutes early, but his personal assistant (he refused to call her his bodyguard) is already waiting outside with the car. She always seemed to know exactly when he would be ready to go.
After a quiet car ride, the CEO sneers at the sight of a photographer waiting at the entrance. Ever since the explosion and his early release from the hospital, those vultures had been looking for any sign that he was in less than peak condition, physically or mentally. He was fine. As long as he lived, nothing would keep him from running the company he’d built out of thin air. With a short nod, his personal assistant had the photographer disarmed and Mr. Lowell walked inside.
Even in the office building, the dull hum of heavy machinery could be heard from the factory floor. Music. He walks past the desks of his staff, muttering return greetings to those who address him before entering his own office. He removes his jacket and hangs it over the back of his chair, taking a stack of papers and to do list from his assistant without looking at them. It’s not as thick as it should be…
Flicking through the forms to see what might be missing, he doesn’t find the quality assessment for the Anniston shipment going out today. Schreier. Max glares from behind the fist his head rests against on the desk. “Remind me why I can’t kill him,“ he asks halfheartedly. His assistant smiles briefly, but doesn’t answer.

History, part one.
Maksim (called Max even then by his friends) grew up in Hell’s Kitchen in New York City the 60’s and early 70’s. His father’s tool shop fell into harsh debt, and when he had been unable and unwilling to pay back the mob boss he’d received loans from, the family met with an unfortunate accident in the form of an orchestrated car wreck. Left on his own at age 11, no one cared initially for the orphaned boy, until he showed up at the door of the boss responsible with a knife in his hand.
Impressed with Maksim’s daring, he was given a job as a discreet messenger, and paid well enough to keep his parents’ house. The scrappy boy became very involved in the underground, training in boxing and earning a rather violent reputation as he grew. Eventually, he grew so much on the boss that he began training him for bigger things, and Max proved to have a surprising aptitude for business. His alias “The Shark” went from a reference to his ferocity in the ring to his sharp focus and frighteningly tactical mind.
With Max’s help, they were able to build up a legitimate company to fund their more illegitimate business dealings, an arms manufacturing and dealership called Les Loups. At the age of 30, he was named Co-Founder, inheriting the CEO title and all business in its entirety after the “mysterious” demise of the mob boss.
I’m thinking of having the mob boss be Sentinal Zeta Prime’s analog, who Max waited patiently to kill in revenge until after he was of no more use.
Of course, almost none of this is public knowledge, and only those closest to him are even aware that Max Lowell is not his real name, let alone the rest of his past.
If any Optimus/Orions want to get in on this, I was thinking of having them be very close friends in early years, even if there’s a significant age difference.
