💘: how does my muse act/react when they first realize that they had a crush on somebody?

The first thing he does is shove it deep, deep down where no one can find it.

For most of his life, he was constantly reminded that getting attached deeply to someone was dangerous. In the mines, in the arena, as a revolutionary, in a war- anyone around you could die at any moment. Or worse, as time went on, it became harder to tell who could even be trusted with intel, let alone his spark. The disaster with Orion didn’t help.

Even if someone might be worth the risk, if they might be a perfect companion for him, starting a relationship with the leader of a volatile faction would paint a target on their back. Anything that happened to them would be because someone was trying to hurt him. If he had feelings for that person, the worst thing he could do was admit it.

Now that things have calmed down, there isn’t nearly as much danger, but old habits die hard. Feelings of attraction still pop up as red flags for Megatron, so he ignores it for as long as he possibly can. In most cases, he eventually forgets those feelings.

ღ: how does my muse feel about displays of affection in public and/or in private?

If Megatron ever kisses someone in public, some supernatural thing is at play. He’s possessed, or some magic is forcing him to suddenly not care who sees. The most he’s comfortable doing in public is being physically close, which only translates to PDA if you have a Warlord Body Language Guide.

In private, the guy’s a secret romantic. Nuzzles, cuddling, hand-holding, all that jazz. He’s hella touch-starved, but restrains himself to what his partner is comfortable with.

❥: what is my muse’s ideal date?

Megatron doesn’t really “date”, or a least he thinks he doesn’t. He just spends a dedicated amount of time with a specific person and no one else while doing things that they both enjoy.

But really, his best date would probably involve a good, hard spar, and laying together afterwards in the quiet of a habsuite, tending to any minor wounds they might have given each other. A bit of fun, a bit of intimate closeness.

💌: how would my muse go about confessing to someone they liked? would they do it indirectly or directly, or maybe not at all?

Too often, not at all. In his busy life Megatron has liked and even fallen in love with several mechs, and he’s only admitted it to two of them. Much more often, things fell apart or the other died before he dared say anything. It takes him a long time to determine if it’s worth the risk.

When he actually has does confess, he does so in private. While he might appear as sure of himself and powerful as always, there is hardly a time when he’s more nervous, standing away from the person and often not looking at them. Megs hates every moment until they answer, hates feeling so vulnerable.

♡: how does my muse act, consciously and/or subconsciously, around people they are romantically interested in?

In public, Megatron likes to think it doesn’t show. He also likes to think that his optics look in the same direction all the time. I mean that he tries to remain impartial when around other people, just because as a leader it’s frowned upon to give one person preferential treatment. …This is also an impossible task for him. He simply puts more value in that person, so it comes out in how far he stands from them, whose judgement he defers to, who is trusted with the most important tasks. Soundwave was by no means treated the same as his other subordinates, even before their relationship became a thing.

Another thing that may or may not be a conscious choice given the situation is that he’ll relax around mechs he’s interested in. His EM field is normally tight to his body, but it’ll fuzz and expand as he chooses to let someone in. His plating too relaxes a bit, and he doesn’t glare as much. All this stuff isn’t very noticeable, unless you’re a vehicon who’s spent time working near Megatron every day. To them Megs might as well be wearing a sign that says “HELLO I AM VERY INTERESTED”.

💕: how does my muse express their feelings? do they do through small but meaningful gestures, or through bold declarations?

Megatron’s broad emotions are extremely obvious. If he’s pleased, he struts, if he’s angry he’s vocal and violent. If he cares about someone it’s obvious too, but only if you know what to look for.

Megatron is a mech whose whole life is made of bold statements, so when it comes to him, the little things almost matter more. He will get all up in people’s faces to intimidate and prove a point, to remind them of his power. With someone he likes, he is purposefully gentler, respecting their personal space and maybe laying a hand on their back or shoulder in private. If they’re walking together and his partner is short than he is, he’ll adjust his pace for them. He’ll hear them out if they disagree with him, request to spend time with them just for the company.

When it’s serious, any and all declarations are private. Big gestures to show his trust in the other person, but never with an audience.

💓: how does my muse feel about physical intimacy?

When Megatron was young, it was sort of an escape, miners finding a little bit of pleasure and comfort in each other for a while when everything else around them was terrible.

In the arena, victors had scores of fans, begging on their knees for a chance to get into berth with them. He indulged a few times, but it felt too shallow for him to enjoy it much.

Through the entire war, millions of years, he only interfaced a handful of times, in celebration of hard-won battles. Little private moments stolen with commanding officers, in the heat of the moment, never lasting very long.

Now that his war is over, there’s no sense of urgency, none of this “we could die tomorrow, but we’re alive now so let’s enjoy that.” At the same time, without an enemy to constantly plan around, Megatron finds himself with a lot more restless energy, and a lot more free time. Even with a conjunx who is freer with interfacing, Megatron is still getting used to the idea that there doesn’t have to be some dire circumstance to justify spending his time that way. It’s hard to adjust to peace after a lifetime of fighting, to let himself enjoy the experience for its own sake.
