Hey Megs, do you think a bot with the matrix could talk to ALL the past Primes? Like- can they chat up Alpha Trion whenever? Or are they just stuck talking to bots that had the matrix in the past? If it’s the second one, poor Optimus. I know I sure wouldn’t want to be stuck with talking to Sentinel.

Hey, you were one of my best guesses- not that many bots here I can ask, you know? And it’s not like I’m planning on finding out for myself right now.

… What do you think it’s supposed to mean? Did Optimus actually become any wiser when he got the matrix? Hard to imagine him not being him.

No point to argue his not wanting to try. It was an old disagreement by now, and if Megatron ever needed to ask such of Smokescreen, it would be only when a Prime was absolutely necessary. Hopefully that was a long ways off, but the universe had long ago taught Megatron to keep his expectations realistic, and to plan for the worst.

Smokescreen shouldn’t be thankful for the things I’ve done, says a voice in the back of his mind. It’s an echo of a memory, from every previous moment that Smokescreen admitted to his appreciation, despite the past. Megatron’s argued this point many times with him, and each time the cadet is endlessly persistent. Exactly why is a question he doesn’t yet understand.

He could return the sentiment, but Megatron was never one for sentiment. Besides, the moment is broken by Smokescreen touching his face. He scrunches it up with a scowl, but doesn’t shoo him away or tell him off for it. Let that speak to how good of a mood he’s in.

Well, I mean, you not having dark energon in you would be good for him as well, right? And you know you can talk, make amends… It doesn’t hurt to try, right?

He lets the conversation end there, not willing or able to offer an adequate answer. Primus has approached him before… or at least, Prophet has. Megatron has difficulty separating the herald from his god, despite having no such issue between Soundwave and Unicron. 

He still has doubts, but on the slim chance he succeeds, it will solve so much. If Primus refuses him… there will be no surprise.
