::Smokescreen. Have you acquired a scouting team?::

ask-smokescreen:

::Not quite- I ran into a bit of trouble, and I’ve been having a bit of trouble getting a team together unrelated to that- while thinking about it, there’s a lot of bots I realized I can’t invite.:: Like Airachnid- mostly for “Megatron would probably offline her” reasons, none of the DJD, probably not Soundwave… And then he’d have to choose between inviting his dad or his friend, since either one of them could be good, but he can’t have both.

::Do you have any bots you’d recommend for this? I’ve got a few I’ve already asked, but there’s about three other bots I’ve offered so far that I know would be great here.::

Can’t invite… Ah. Out of the list of mecha that forms in Megatron’s mind, Airachnid’s gets scratched out aggressively.

::A squad of five would be preferred, since we may not be able to send you support straight away.:: A thought crosses his mind. ::You have not been broadcasting the intent of this mission, have you? I don’t want everyone to be out searching, or for our most precious artifacts to fall into the wrong hands.:: Avoiding the public entirely would be impossible where Smokescreen was involved, but exactly what they were searching for was something they needed to downplay.

::Make sure that both Autobots and Decepticons are present… Take Datastream. Who have you been in contact with about this?::

ask-smokescreen:

“Flying! I have wings- carrier used to talk about how I might fly with ‘em someday!” Though since getting his tires, it has been a little while since that conversation’s come up.

Excited thunking against Megatron’s legs now, looking at them in complete amazement, “Wings?! I want leg wings! Can you float?”

Megatron pointedly ignores any and all mention of the temporary sparkling’s creators. No need to put him through unnecessary stress when this spell will wear off soon enough.

“I can, but with my jets, it is easier to go very fast.”

ask-smokescreen:

mightymegatron:

Fine. Let them be crusts. He’s too tired for that. The leg-knocking gets a smirk out of him, however.

“When you’re older, perhaps.” Although, he’s certain Smokscreen’s armor isn’t nearly as thick as his own. If it was, the racer would hardly be able to run, let alone race.

He’s going to keep knocking on Megatron for a while, maybe trying to make a rhythm using Megatron’s leg, even. It’s a good sounding leg!

“Really? Really? I need it when I’m starting flying! It needs to be here soon.” His doorwings are fluttering some- he’s looking forward to trying to fly! “Can you fly? Where’s your wings?”

“Flying, hm?” Perhaps Smokescreen would want to be reformatted one day. One of the few things he’d be able to relate to.

“You’re actually tapping on what becomes my.. “wings”. My leg plating stabilizes my alt-mode in flight.”

mightymegatron:

How come they’re ridges? Will I get them? Where’s your lights?

Mm. I’m not sure why they’re called that. You have them already, they’re just small- and what lights do you mean?

Really? They’re optic crusts! I don’t! I don’t have any!

/He’s pointing to all his biolights- Megatron doesn’t have many, and it’s weird!/

“Ridges, not crusts.” He’s staring at tiny Smokescreen’s face, at the little optic ridges on his helm… but he’s not up for arguing.

“Ah. I have them too, but they’re covered up by thick armor.” He raps his knuckles against abdominal plating, demonstrating with the sound it makes.

As he can’t see them, they might as well not exist- he’s very confident on this! “How come? They’re crusts!”

And that gets a long look of awe, before the bitlet starts knocking on Megatron’s leg, and then on his own, somewhat softer plating. “Can I sound like you?” He likes Megatron’s armor!

ask-smokescreen:

“I know, I know- we’re going pretty quickly with what we have so far, really. But waiting for everything to be there is tough.” He is more skilled than he lets on! “You think I could run by with you what I’m thinking for some of the educational stuff at some point? It’s hard to know what the best way would be without knowing how many bots want to sign up for the first classes, but I’ve got some ideas there.”

Smokescreen’s certainly perking up at that private mission. It’s gotta be related to something big! Maybe finding the Allspark? “A private mission? Can I participate? I might know some bots that could help, too… We can probably rule those out the ones on Cybertron as being the Allspark, but they might be something else that would help us. There were a lot of relics Alpha Trion knew about. I figured they were all sent out, but maybe they’re important locations, themselves? Or they were hidden on-planet once everyone else left.”

“I would expect nothing less. We can discuss that soon, but we’ll also need to find a method of letting the masses know about it… that doesn’t sound like Decepticon propaganda.” Megatron ran a frustrated servo down his faceplate.

“You participating would be the only reason I would ask. The Allspark is not on Cybertron, that much we do know. But these coordinates could lead to relics that will aid us in ways we cannot even imagine, if they haven’t all been ransacked or devoured by scraplets since they were hidden. If they are weapons like those found on Earth, they must be kept out of our enemies’ reach. If they are culturally significant somehow, their location will be noted and preserved. Either way, we must investigate all of the datapoints Alpha Trion hid from us.” Megatron’s smirk began to show.

“Assemble a squadron. I will give you the first coordinate then.”

ask-smokescreen replied to your post:

I mean- mostly on maintaining the crystal gardens and planning out some kinda educational system for everyone who missed out due to the war or restrictions- but it still doesn’t feel like enough. I don’t know- I think I’m just impatient and want to see Cybertron at 100% again.

Megatron lets out a very deep sigh.

“Don’t we all. Progress is slow, but it is progress, which you are contributing to.” Somehow.

“Although… I require more mechs for a private mission. Acquire a few more. A few of Alpha Trion’s coordinates were on Cybertron. They may prove useful in the planet’s restoration.”
