âArt is to be appreciated, is it not?â
âŚwell perhaps the photo had been a bit artistic. The lighting was his favorite part of he had to be honest.
âSo⌠You enjoy lots of styles of ⌠Art?â
âIndeed. It was impossible not to stumble upon the other arts in the halls of Iacon while researching. There were those I preferred over others, music, film, fiction…â What are you rambling about, Megatron? He didnât ask for backstory.
âPhotography is one of those.â

The loss of a teammate in battle is to be expected, and would have been a victory for me if we were still at war.
We are no longer at war, and the loss of a child in such a way is never something to celebrate. Not even his.
(Alrighty so I know that I have a reputation for not posting that much in general, and that this year I’ve been sort or quiet, but at the moment it’s for a reason:
My computer is broken. Like really broken. I’m having it sent in to see if they can fix it, otherwise I’m getting a new one altogether, but in the meantime I’m mobile- only. I have Skype on my phone now though so if anyone needs me I can still be reached, and I can still have some limited activity on here âĄ
Just letting everyone know I’m ok, just my computer isn’t
Megatron seems subdued today. No one on the ship is quite sure of why, but nearly everyone on board has taken notice.
Almost as soon as the touch is there, it is gone. A chill runs through Megatron… but it is a familiar, welcome cold. He reaches out to touch one of the spymasterâs retreating cables and catches only air. Even so, it is soothing to know that despite how busy they are, some things never change.
@supernovasoundwave Thank you and youâre welcome!! Unfortunately it isnât at all explained why he had them. Like, ever really. Iâve always wondered myself. This would be a question to ask the writers of that comic. But hereâs my theory.
See the thing is, is that lots of other bots in the first issue of Megatron Origin have helmets exactly like his (as shown below), so I imagine that the other miners were built on an industrial scale to have them as well. It couldnât have been just Megatron who had them.
(None of the bots shown here are Megatron. The close one in the first panel looks like it but Megs doesnât have any scars on his face). As you can see in the pic above, all the miners have helmets exactly like Megatronâs and thus probably head crests as well.
But for miners to have solar panels? In the dark? Makes no sense. There is no solar energy down there at all. Wanna know what I think they are?
Yeah, they were like whiskers. Imagine though it sort of makes sense. Itâs dark down there and sometimes theyâd probably run out of power so they couldnât see in the dark. The Functionists probably wanted to save money and resources on building them and gave them shitty programming/no night vision.
So instead they built them with head panels. Theyâd take off their helmets (as stupid and as dangerous as thatâd be but really miners were merely tools back then; easily replaceable so not like it mattered if one died) and allow the crests to fan out and the crests would scrape up against the ceiling of the mine shaft they were in or against the walls to let them know where they were in their surroundings.
They probably built the head panels like (and this is another theory I donât think it was ever confirmed about Seekers)Â a Seekerâs wings. The head panels were probably sensitive to atmospheric pressures, vibrations from above to let them know if there was going to be a cave-in and they needed to get out of there/if ground was unstable, etc.
Itâs seen in one issue of MTMTE where a young Megatron and Impactor go to the bar during the whole time-traveling thing and also in like the first panels of Megatron Origin that miners were indeed allowed to go up to the surface. If the head-panels were sensitive to atmospheric pressure, then it would make sense to want to shield them from this sudden change of pressure from way down deep in the mines to all the way at the surface. Itâs sort of like having your ears pop on a jet when youâre ascending.
The helmets protect the sensitive panels from the pressure change by keeping them folded flat and not able to expand and âturn onâ (as I imagine that if they were folded flat, they would be âoffâ to conserve a minerâs energy because it would be useless to run a pressure change/vibration-sensitive program when the helmet was on). So, thus, the helmet kept the panels down and the programming âoffâ.
Now itâs not at all explained why Megatron fanned his crests out after he killed his first dude in the gladiatorial ring but we see by that point of the comic that not a lot of the miners-turned-gladiators had their helmets after issue one so they could have gotten themselves altered to be better fighters. After all, it wouldnât be good for your enemy to grab the sensitive crests and rip them off/out.
Megatron probably took his helmet off in an expression of grief of what he did (slight spoilers here but nothing too major: when he attacked the senator that fired them all, he was all like âNO WHAT HAVE I DONEâ sort of thing super grief stricken so itâd make sense that heâd still, later on in the arena, feel grief or change in himself after he killed his first bot). So that particular moment was probably him expressing himself. Note that he doesnât smile or anything or is proud of what he did. He looks⌠done. Tired. Like he just wants to sleep.
With that, itâs not known why Megatron and probably other miners had those head panels but tbh solar panels makes absolutely no sense so I personally think they were more like whiskers.
âI know, I know- weâre going pretty quickly with what we have so far, really. But waiting for everything to be there is tough.â He is more skilled than he lets on! âYou think I could run by with you what Iâm thinking for some of the educational stuff at some point? Itâs hard to know what the best way would be without knowing how many bots want to sign up for the first classes, but Iâve got some ideas there.â
Smokescreenâs certainly perking up at that private mission. Itâs gotta be related to something big! Maybe finding the Allspark? âA private mission? Can I participate? I might know some bots that could help, too⌠We can probably rule those out the ones on Cybertron as being the Allspark, but they might be something else that would help us. There were a lot of relics Alpha Trion knew about. I figured they were all sent out, but maybe theyâre important locations, themselves? Or they were hidden on-planet once everyone else left.â
âI would expect nothing less. We can discuss that soon, but weâll also need to find a method of letting the masses know about it… that doesnât sound like Decepticon propaganda.â Megatron ran a frustrated servo down his faceplate.
âYou participating would be the only reason I would ask. The Allspark is not on Cybertron, that much we do know. But these coordinates could lead to relics that will aid us in ways we cannot even imagine, if they havenât all been ransacked or devoured by scraplets since they were hidden. If they are weapons like those found on Earth, they must be kept out of our enemiesâ reach. If they are culturally significant somehow, their location will be noted and preserved. Either way, we must investigate all of the datapoints Alpha Trion hid from us.â Megatronâs smirk began to show.
âAssemble a squadron. I will give you the first coordinate then.â
